Happiness is a warm book – Mama Elephant

Beverly Cleary is one of my favorite childhood/adult authors. She is quoted as saying, “If you don’t see the book you want on the shelf, write it.” My childhood reading memories are filled with thoughts of Ribsy and Ramona and Grandma. My Grandma and I spent hours reading during the summers we spent together. This fun 3D Pop-Up Card die set by Mama Elephant, was the perfect interactive card die for the Bookworm images also by Mama Elephant. All that got me thinking of the summer reading programs. Looking back on it I’m hoping Grandma loved Ribsy and Ramona as much as I did.

The You Tube video by Nichol Spohr on the 3D Pop-Up die  is a great tutorial. The die includes all the pieces necessary (and more) to make a 3 D pop up card. I can think of many cute stamp sets that would work so perfectly with this Pop-Up die. It goes together easily, if you adhere only one edge of the dividers, place all your main pieces and then finish by pressing the dividers into place.

The “Happiness is a good book,” sentiment from the Books and Coffee set by Waffle Flower Crafts was just what was needed to finish this off.

All the fun little critters from the Mama Elephant “Bookworm” set were so much fun to color (I used Copic markers) and adhered them with some glue dots.

See my little worm, there? He is suspended on a thin piece of clear acetate and adhered with permanent tape/glue dot and folds in nicely when the card is collapsed. So much fun to make, already planning my next one! Painting is on the weekend schedule so it will be put off until that’s finished, but what an incentive to get it done so I can get back to making more POP-UP’S!

Celebrating YOU! – Mama Elephant

Cloudy here but, sun is shining through on these adorable critters! Our son-in-law is celebrating his birthday vacationing  in sunny Florida today and we are thinking we are pretty fortunate to have him in our family! These cute sets by Mama Elephant stole my heart and I thought they were perfect for this card today.

Making clouds is so fun with the MFTStamps Cloud Stencil, I could have just kept making clouds all the way down my card.  Sun beams were easy with the MFTStamps Radiating Rays stencil and grass was just a  wee bit of mowed lawn brushed up against some masking tape.

A “TWO-FER” today with another Mama Elephant card I made the other day. This one using the cute little Tea With Friends bunny and her kitty friend.

I love using embossing folders with die cuts. Always remember make your die cut FIRST! If you run your embossing folder through your machine after you have embossed it, it will squish out all your lovely embossing!

Speaking of embossing. You know those awesome 3D type embossing folders? I have a couple of them and used one on a card I made the other day in my AWESOME, BRAND SPANKING NEW GEMINI JUNIOR. I’m pretty sure I had my sandwich wonky. It was too thick. Uh-huh. Broke the machine. Read and re-read the manual. Just because you are certified to drive your BIG SHOT does not necessarily give you the skills to operate your Gemini even if you read your manual. Not all embossing folders are the same! Be careful! That Gemini Junior machine is awesome and mine is off for repairs!

DASHING THROUGH THE SNOW

Termination dust. That’s what Alaskan’s refer to as the first bits of snow showing up on the mountaintops. Those bits made their way covering our yard and driveway last weekend.

There’s a feeling, a cozy feeling that overcomes you when the snow covers the ground, it’s cold enough to put a sweater on, you don’t have to drive anywhere and you sit down with a warm cuppa and it’s quiet.

Trying to embrace that cozy feeling and getting me in the mood are these adorable critters from Mama Elephant.

Colored them up with Copic Markers and would you look at that gorgeous, sparkly snow!

Lawn Fawn glitter in both the Chunky and Prisma because when you can’t make up your mind, you just use both!
