Get Cracking on Christmas – Colorado Craft Company – Joy Ornaments

Maybe you’ve heard that quote attributed to Charles Dickens, “I will honor Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.” Makes it easy when you play along with #Getcrackingonchristmas thanks to Jenn Shurkus http://shurkus.com . Every 3rd Thursday of each month we celebrate by making a card or many in preparation for Christmas, so that by December you have at least 12 cards already made and ready to send!

Starting out right away with a simple, design with a little sparkle background and images from Colorado Craft Company http://www.coloradocraftcompany.com from the Joy Ornaments set.

I love the Alabaster White embossing powder from Brutus Monroe which looks so bright against the deep red of Lawn Fawn’s Barn Red card stock. Using Distress Ink in Aged Mahogany and Black Soot I deepened up the color a bit giving it an almost velvet look.

Mounted it on a piece of Pixie Dust Sparkle card stock again by Lawn Fawn, added some snow flake sequins by Lucy’s Little Things and this month’s card is done. Something nice about a design like this is that multiples are easy using your Misti or a stamp platform.

Adding some products below and substituted the snowflakes for some other sequin types that would work fine. If you shop the links below there is a small compensation given at NO cost to you. And, I always LOVE your comments and that you stopped by the blog!

Have a WONDERFUL New Year and keep Christmas in your heart!

XOXO

Get Cracking on Christmas – Colorado Craft Company

Let’s Get Cracking on Christmas! Featuring another Colorado Craft Company, Anita Jeram set this month, “Flurries of Fun!” and the snow flurry from the “Kittens and Mittens” set.

Jenn is celebrating her first in -person event in 2 years with 250 people at “Crop on the Cape!”

Her LIVE will be on YouTube Thursday March 24th at 8p ET(this is the week AFTER Get Cracking) sharing how she made her card, and encouraging everyone to work on your own cards.

I LOVE being a part of “Get Cracking On Christmas” as by the time November rolls around, I have a container filled with cards and it really alleviates the stress of gathering up last minute ideas. Give it a try, the third Thursday of the month, we would love to see what you create!

An adorable Anita Jeram image from Colorado Craft Company. Sentiment by Pinkfresh Studio.

Flurries of Fun

My background is one of several I made with my gel plate and some Distress Oxide inks. This particular background is one with left over brayering where I just cleaned off my rollers. I just love how it created the snow like shadows. I colored my images with Copic Markers and then enhanced the colors with Caran d’ache Luminence colored pencil. The snow flurries in the sky were heat embossed with white embossing powder.

The sentiment “Peace and Joy” is heat activated foil with Spellbinders Glimmer foil in Speckled Prism. This sentiment set includes so many different holiday sentiments and the matching die set is available making it easy to make all those greetings up ahead of time so they are ready to use.

Thanks for stopping by and I am wishing you PEACE and JOY!

Get Cracking for Christmas – Stampers Anonymous

Let’s Get Cracking with a card using Stampers Anonymous, “Holiday Drawings.” Celebrating Tim Holtz and Ranger’s new Distress Ink color, Speckled Egg! And, according to Tim on his “LIVE” reveal there will be more colors to be released by the end of the year.

Thankful to be part of the Get Cracking on Christmas blog hop organized by Jenn Shurkus. Visit Jenn’s blog http://www.shurkus.com and follow along and get Cracking on your own Christmas and Holiday cards.

Not only do I love the images in the Holiday Drawings set, I fell head over heels in love with Distress Embossing Glaze in Weathered Wood.

Love the little cabin in the woods theme, how it looks all warm and friendly on a winter night and gives the idea that Santa is on his way. And, that Santa, the perfect vintage type of Santa.

Not wanting to distract from the scene I added very minimal sequins and some actual glass, sparkly glitter that has been hoarded in my studio for eons. It was perfect for this wintery, shaker card.

I used Copic Markers on Santa (except his bag), on the pine branches, and on the cabin. Distress Ink for the soft background and on the die cuts used to make the shaker frame.

The little circle sentiment was made with a circle die after stamping the DEC 25 sentiment in Archival Jet Black, placed it on my Versamark pad, coated it completely with Distress Embossing glaze, and repeated that process several times.

A few items were not found in my “Shops” list and substitutes were found where possible. The Stampers Anonymous “Holiday Drawings, CMS284” is available at other sources.

If you purchase from my affiliate links below I do receive a small commission, at no cost to you, that helps offset blog costs!

Thank you SO much for stopping by and for your comments. I love hearing from you!
