Unicorns ‘n Rainbows – Essentials by Ellen

Alcohol inks are having a hot comeback! Since I had some non porous Yupo paper I got to work trying out some color combo’s. Ellen Hutson has a Challenge going on so this was perfect timing to work something up. I long since gave up the small collection of alcohol inks I had so tried using my Copic refills and my Copic Colorless Blender Solution.

Choosing some nice color variegations I ran the cloud and heart dies from the Unicorns n’ Rainbow’s set through my Gemini. Then used Copic markers to color in the Unicorn and the Rainbow images mounting them on Neenah #110 lb Solar white Card stock.

The clouds came out so magical with the alcohol inks, it just seemed perfect for this kind of look and the hearts, too! My color choices were totally dependent on the refills that I have and then tried to match them as closely as i could to the markers I chose for the images.

Rainbows, Books and Coffee – Waffleflower Crafts

Sometimes card inspiration comes from what is laying random on my desk in front of me. My desk was full of that sort of inspiration since I had been busy getting ready for company and enjoying my time with them. So Waffleflower Crafts Rainbow die, still on my desk from a recent order, was waiting to be put to work!  I love a colorful, sparkly, glittery rainbow and used American Crafts glitter tape as the base for my rainbow. The glittery tape surface doesn’t shed glitter so I used Copic markers to color unconventional rainbow stripes and then die cut it.

That’s when the whole “Reading Rainbow” idea came to me! Ha! Now that little tune is going to be spinning around between your ears! So using Waffleflower Crafts, “Books and Coffee” stamp set was just perfect for a fun, all occasion card.

Summer in Alaska is winding down, the last salmon are making their way up stream and reading and coffee are sounding like a good idea.
